Emma offered a smile that she hoped was more comforting and less stressed out than it might have seemed. For that moment at least, her only insistence was to keep Belle safe. If she could manage that, then she was doing okay.
"All the choices you could ever want," Emma promised, looking encouraging. "I know it isn't home. You'll miss your family, I'm sure, and the adjustments... I'm from this time and there's things that are strange to me. It'll take time, I'm sure. There's a lot to learn but I have the feeling you'll handle that just fine."
She glanced at her phone again, biting her lip. At least no one had made any outright rude comments. Not that she'd have blamed them, of course. She didn't have that right any longer. They were right to place judgment, at least to a point. They were allowed. Lexi was even being civil, and she'd always feel she'd let the girl down. "There's a girl at the apartment complex. Cordelia. She can help show you around there, get you settled."
If Belle asked why Emma herself couldn't, well... It was simple enough. She didn't live there. That was all it was. Right. God, sometimes she hated this life. She wouldn't change anything she'd done, she'd made her choices and she would live with them. But this never got any easier. "If you want, we can head over there now. You're probably exhausted. I can get you there safely."
