She had to give her credit. She was as smart as the story said. Belle had picked up on the subtle wording Emma had used and not only questioned it, but formed her own conclusion. And she was right. Strange as it might have been, she was right.
"That's the one," Emma replied agreeably. "The end of the world, the Apocalypse, the last great battle between the devil and and God and all their little toys in the middle." No, Emma wasn't bitter, really. Being dragged into a war she had no business in when she had enough of a fight to deal with back home? Just what every girl wanted.
"From what I undestand," she continued, "Lucifer, Satan, whatever name you want to give him, has been trapped in a cage for centuries, locked in with several seals...figurative or otherwise, I don't know," she added with a shrug. "And, recently, the last seal covering that cage was broken. And he was free to walk on this Earth. However, the seal is also, apparently, sentient? It can think for itself." Just in case the word was new to the young woman. Just because her English was good, didn't mean it was flawless. It was, after all, at least a couple of centuries old.
Biting her lip for a moment, Emma trudged on. What else was she going to do? She had to be honest, after all. "You were brought here by that Seal, Belle. And there's no way out. No way back home. Whatever you were in the middle of? It'll still be there waiting. Time stopped where you're from, but it'll continue to move on here. An entire world, right here in front of you. The year is 2012 and this..." She motioned around her with a wave of a hand. "Is Lawrence, Kansas. In the United States of America."
