She could see the culture shock written on the girl's face and realized it was a face she recognized. Yeah. Thanks, Seal. Another one, another person far too young to be dealing with this insanity. And, from the look of her, she didn't have any business being in a war. Specifically not this sort.
Attempting a soothing smile, the sort she'd use on Henry, Emma took a breath and tried to think how, exactly, to answer 'where are we'. Why was that such a loaded question here? Anywhere else? Easy. Lawrence, Kansas? Fifteen different answers, eleven guaranteed to scare the hell out of someone.
"We're in a city called Lawrence," she began, and heard the accented voice and amended her statement. "In America. Or the United States, if either of those mean anything to you?" She didn't look like she'd just been sent to a new city in an already familiar setting. She looked like she'd been sent to a whole new world.
"I'm Emma," she added, trying to sound comforting instead of worried. She'd never been that good at the welcoming thing. Last person she'd run into...in this same stupid park, no less...turned out to be...well. Whole other story. "Where are you from? I can explain ever--well, most everything. I hope."
