He watched her as she tried the numbers, aggravation dropping away to just shock. He figured he should let her start to see for herself just how stuck they really were in this place. Well, she could go anywhere she wanted to, it seemed, but she wouldn't be able to go home. She seemed like one of those who would want to get back to her home, though. So the news that she was stuck here would be distressing indeed.
"I hate to be the one to inform you of this, but a lot of us have been...pulled to this place for a higher purpose," he said to her as he repocketed his phone. "There's a few people I should put you in touch with, people who are more familiar with this than I. I've only been here for a little while, after all. I wouldn't want to much it up in explaining it to you."
