Luke considered Jacen's words, and he smiled, watching the other man as he spoke. His face fell as he spoke of Jaina, and he sighed, but he listened on until the man was done.
"I know why you did it. I think you were misguided, and you were going to fail. But I didn't come here to renew an old argument. I didn't come here to judge you, really. I came here to find out who you are today. I came here because, frankly, I want to know you, as you are, and want to find a way to live, or coexist, as the saying goes, without conflict." He raised a hand.
"I know we may argue, but I'd rather it be a debate than a fight. You're family, Jacen, and for what it's worth, I am very glad you are finding a path for yourself here. If I can ever help, let me know."
He hesitated, then nodded. "I do not know who is right or wrong. I have been here so short a time, I find myself still learning and exploring. And as far as settling in, I am enjoying it. I have lived in almost endless war for so many years that this quiet, even with the Autons, feels almost unnatural. But I like it. Mara and Anakin, and you, and your family... it is a gift I had never dreamed I might have."
He lapsed into silence for a moment, feeling rather sentimental. Luke had been a Jedi knight for a long time, and a warrior equally as long. And all that time he had wanted only peace and a good future for all. Now he hoped to find it anew, here in this world. he looked up at Anakin.
"This world makes me feel young. For all the darkness in the air, there is a feeling of hope. And I want to encourage it, not shut it down."
