Once Amy was fully awake, the first feeling that registered for her was embarrassment. She hadn't really intended for Priestly to catch her mid-nightmare. Kids had nightmares. People her age dealt with things and they were gone before they could plague their subconscious. Obviously this was something Amy hadn't dealt with yet, though who could blame her? Having been a vampire for a night wasn't exactly an everyday psychological trauma. No one ever tells you how to recover from something like that. Slowly, she turned her head to look at him. Her expression gave the impression that she was miserable.
At least it was just a dream. She told herself. It was less comforting than she'd hoped, especially with Mark having shown up in town. That was just one more reminder that she was unsafe from the vampires of her world even as a resident of this world.
"Did I wake you up?" Her voice was quieter than usual. The words came out slowly, almost tentative. She felt like kicking herself for coming over to Priestly's place. It wasn't as if nightmares were some kind of rarity for her. She should have known that this was a possibility right from the start. She started thinking of ways she could try to downplay what had just happened.
Amy turned her body so that she was facing him. She nipped at her lower lip, a nervous habit she'd developed in the past weeks or so.
