There were children that were hurt. Many of them younger than her, and maybe some were around her age, but all Prim knew was that she had to get in and she had to help them. She didn't want them to suffer, she wanted to help them and make them feel better. Those were the main thoughts that were running through her mind as she saw what the bombs had done to the poor kids. The thought that she might be in any sort of danger never even crossed her mind at all. She just wanted to help, especially since she knew many of them were probably really scared. She would be if it were her in that situation. If this were a few years ago Prim probably wouldn't have the guts to do this, she would have been cowering back in 13, sad that she didn't feel strong enough to help. She'd being crying for Katniss. Or maybe not. Maybe she had been strong even before the growing she had done more recently she might have done better than she gave herself credit for? It really was hard to say what she'd be doing in this situation, but either way, she could see the fear, she could see that help was needed. She just wanted to give that help.
She didn't even hesitate, really. In fact, Prim ran to help the children as fast as she possibly could. She was so focused. Her mind was on one thing and one thing only and that was doing whatever she had to do to help them. If she could have helped them all at once she would have, but as it was she had to focus and figure out where to start and how to proceed. She didn't even know that anything was wrong or off around her, that was how extreme her tunnel vision was. She was unaware until...well, not until it seemed to be happening, and it was as if it all was in slow motion. The realization, the short moments before it happened, and the action. She heard her own name being shouted and then something...went boom. Prim knew, logically, that a bombing would burn her. She knew that it would kill her if strong enough, obviously. It was not very likely that she would survive this, she knew it. She was going to die. She felt so guilty, so bad, knowing that she'd be leaving her sister behind. Katniss had done so much to make sure that she lived and here she was dying. Prim felt herself hit the ground and then blank blackness.
It didn't last long though, it felt like it was only a second, Prim could remember what she had been doing and....everything, but she didn't feel pain? The young girl was on the ground, she was curled in a ball, her arms over her head, as if protecting her head. She stayed that way for a few moments, afraid to actually move, but when all seemed fine she decided it was for the best. As Prim lifted her head she was shocked by what met her eyes. This....was not the Capitol. This wasn't even District 12, or 13 for that matter. This wasn't exactly like what anything Prim had even seen before. It was lush, green. There were very few people around, though. She could see some, though. Everything was so bright and nice. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.
Where was she? "Katniss?" Prim looked around, remembering the older girl had called her name, but she didn't see her. Was this heaven? Was this what it was like when you died? It was much nicer than anything back at home, Prim could admit that. It didn't seem as if it were very heavenly, though, even if it was very nice. In fact....was that....a plastic man she had just seen....no, she had to be imagining things. The young woman rubbed her eyes.
This was definitely not home, so was it heaven or what was it exactly was it? Seeing an older woman walking passed Prim stood, not realizing that her entire face was covered in dirt and that she didn't look the greatest, and approached the woman, "Excuse me, is this heaven?" The old woman gave her a funny look before responding, "This is Lawrence, Kansas." And with that response she walked off (quickly), leaving Prim to wrinkle her eyebrows. Lawrence? Where was that? Not understanding, the girl found her feet moving, thinking the entire time. The next person that she ran into was younger, maybe her sister's age, actually.
"Excuse me, could you help--" And he cut her off rather quickly. "Find a computer, kid." He then proceeded to talk about boards that would help her, even pointing out a place where she could get on a computer before he ran off rather quickly too. And Prim would swear that she saw another plastic man, if it weren't for the fact that she thought it sounded...well, insane. Maybe she had hit her head earlier. Once she found her way inside it was actually not all that difficult to get someone that worked there to help her, though she really had no idea what she was doing at all. She logged onto the computer and had to ask for help to figure things out, but once she did, she posted a message.
