Going out and tackling his hangover in public may not have been the best idea after all. The knowing looks that he got from various passerby were tolerable. Sam wasn't the first person in the world who had gone out for coffee with a hangover, nor would he be the last. Hell, Sam could even handle the bright lights and surrounding noises if he squeezed his eyes shut and pretended that he was someplace quiet (his preference was a nice, warm beach very, very far from here). What he could not ignore was the perky blonde vampire that had oh-so cheerfully decided that harassing him when his head felt like it was going to literally fall off his shoulders would be a great idea. Sam opened an eye and squinted at her grumpily.
"I'm pretty sure I can whittle a stake out of one of these chair legs," Sam grumbled. He scrubbed a hand over his face and reached up to rub at the spot on his hair where she'd kissed him. Rather than effectively coming off annoyed and defiant, Sam only made himself look more pathetic. He'd made his hair stick up.
"No talking,. No...noise. Shh." Okay, okay. Irritatingly loud entrance aside, Lexi was trying to be a good friend. Shutting her down when she was showing some concern probably wasn't the nicest thing in the world. Sam tried again. "...no more boozing. Ever. I'm done with alcohol. I don't even want to hear the word." Sam wasn't dumb. He knew he'd drink again. But as of right now, he was more than allowed to hate on all beverages that were not the cup of coffee in his hand. Or water. Water was also acceptable. "And, uh, I know you're trying to be helpful here, but I don't really wanna talk about it. If I talk about it, that means I've gotta think about it. Thinking about it puts me into a sulky mood and I've kinda got a busy schedule. Sulk mode interferes with that, so..." Sam lifted his cup, shooting Lexi a weak salute. "Thanks, but no thanks." He took a gulp of coffee, then awkwardly nodded to Lexi, hoping to change the subject as quickly as possible. "I didn't know vampires drank coffee."
