It was an awkward moment for Bodo when Darcy offered her hand to be shaken. It wasn't as if he wasn't used to the custom of shaking hands upon introduction. It was a different matter altogether. For a long time he'd shied away from all sorts of touch. Even his brother hadn't been exempt. In happier times it had been nothing for Walter to pat Bodo on the back. Now Bodo simply shrugged away the hand should it be placed on his shoulder. He took a few seconds before finally reaching out and shaking her hand, though his grip was not firm at all. It was a surprisingly gentle touch for someone like Bodo. Uncharacteristic, even.
"You are here from another place?" He wasn't sure how to phrase his question. He hoped that she might understand what he meant. Bodo thought that the most fitting word for all of it was 'magic', but felt silly about using the word in conversation. He had never believed in magic or anything like it before. It would take more than what he had been through for him to start believing.
"Es tut mir leid..." He murmured the apology in German in such a quiet tone that it was almost inaudible. He had forgotten to introduce himself before jumping into a question session with Darcy. "I am sorry. I forget. My name is Bodo."
