It took him a few moments to figure out she had meant sharp/observant when she had said he was quick. Well, it didn't take a genius to figure out English wasn't her first language. No matter. He could help with that too while helping her with technology. "I try to be. Doesn't work all the time outside of life or death situations, but if I'm fighting, I'm pretty sharp and quick at picking things up and figuring out what needs to be done to win." Usually it meant what was the best way to defeat and kill his opponent but he wasn't sure how use to violence Gaia was and he didn't want to frighten her with talks like that.
As her leg began swinging a little, his eyes flicked down to the moving leg, drawn there by the movement. He always did try to be extremely observant in his surroundings. It often helped keep him alive. Realizing she was just probably bored with sitting in one position or it was just something to give her legs to do, he looked away.
"I did survive. But I didn't really live until I started fighting for more than just my survival." After all, people survived on a daily basis. But how many actually lived? He listened to her talk of having to survive after her husband's death and he did his best to give her a sympathetic look. "That sounds like it was hard on you. But as you told me, at least you have survived." He smiled a little, hoping he was doing well at this whole, social interaction thing.
