She really knew something had been wrong when he’d just…disappeared. He’d been having lunch with her. They had been sitting together and she had been clueless of anything other than whatever stupid thing she had conned him into talking about. Or she had been in that state until he had disappeared, anyway. She hadn’t known what to do, really. Unlike Loki she didn’t have magic. She didn’t have a way to track him and her best bet had been Thor, honestly. So, that’s why she had posted on the boards. Reading back on it, she knew it didn’t sound nearly as worried as she actually was. Maybe she was bad at the whole relationship thing because she hadn’t noticed something was wrong sooner? At the same time she was sure that he didn’t want her to know anything was wrong. Why? Maybe he didn’t think she could handle it? Was that it? He didn’t think she could handle being with him if something were wrong?
When Loki had finally come back…. Darcy had been beside herself, to be quite honest, but she had also been overwhelmingly relieved that he was back. AT the same time she was so worried about what had caused that. She wanted to know what was up. She didn’t want to go anywhere because she’d already committed herself to this whole thing and obviously it worked out because at least one future had them together and with a kid!
The way he had snapped at her, though. That was a tone that he never took with her. Not her Loki, anyway. The alternate, bad one had of course done worse than just snap, but the Loki that she knew and cared about had never spoken a harsh word to her. He never would have snapped like that without some bigger reason to. Maybe the tone had been what had shocked her so badly and really nailed it down that something really was wrong? Either way, she’d been too flabbergasted to make him stay and talk anything out. She’d let him retreat rather quickly and without argument. She hadn’t posted that he was back. She hadn’t felt total relief either. Something was wrong and she needed to know how to talk to him about it. She needed to figure out what to say and what to do. She didn’t want him to handle this alone, she was here and he didn’t have to! He’d admitted something was wrong, so now….she just wanted to help, rather than to be stuck downstairs pacing and unsure of what to do. He’d automatically gone up and busied himself.
It took her a little while, but after much pacing and thought she just needed to talk to him. She needed to tell him that he couldn’t shut her out of what he was going through. He needed to know that she could handle being there for him. He needed to know that snapping at her was a bitch move! Okay, maybe she wouldn’t put that just in that way, but he needed to know that she was just worried and that if she had upset him, she really hadn’t meant to. She really just cared a lot about him, and she thought that he knew and understood that, but maybe he needed a reminder.
