It was hard to understand why a lot of people were brought here. Elena didn't understand why she was here. She might be the Petrova doppelganger, but that didn't mean much. She had no super powers, she was still just a teenage girl thrown into a situation involving the supernatural with no real means to defend herself beyond self defense. Still, there were normal people there as well and they all managed to make due. And everyone had their reason, they had to.
"Me, too... When I came back, it was sort of a relief as odd as that might sound. Still, sometimes this place is better than where you're from. You could be dead there. Or any number of things." True that was because everything ever that could go wrong back in Mystic Falls, well, went wrong. But it was true. Once the initial panic of nearly being staked and killed, and thus turned into a vampire wore off, Elena was thankful to be back. She hadn't remembered Lawrence in those six months back home, but those memories came back and the connections she had made before were thankfully still here. Even now. And even though she worried about Jeremy, she was happy he was there so she could know how he was. Keep an eye on him.
"Thank you. And I find it helps. I mean sure, when you first get here, all you want to do is leave... but after a while, you realize that you really do need to make the best of the situation. Yes, we're facing the end of the world and anything can happen at any given moment... but if you live day by day expecting to be sent home or some new drama, well, you miss out on a lot..."
That was something Elena had learned. She had been lucky. She'd had friends here already when she first showed up. But still, she hadn't expected to be here so long but it was once she accepted this and started doing things as she normally would, that was when it started to be less stressful, even with all of the added crazy this place brought.
