It was from within that partially cloudy sky that Clark appeared. He had woken earlier that morning with little to do, so he decided that a patrol would do him (and possibly others, should his patrol actually weigh in results) some good. With the exception of a car nearly mowing a woman and her child down earlier that day, Clark hadn't run across any serious trouble in the general Kansas area alone. Clark considered that a good thing. He might have been looking for something to do with his time, but that didn't mean that Clark wanted to find trouble. The more often Kansas was trouble-free, the better - especially since everyone here knew that a trouble-free Kansas, let alone Lawrence, never lasted for very long.
Yet with little to show for his patrol of the day, Clark headed back to the apartment complex. The rooftop landing was always an easier route than hitting the ground below. It was more subtle and far less likely to draw attention to him than dropping down in front of the building, where just about anyone could watch it happen. Though his costume didn't exactly scream Don't Wanna Be Seen, Clark generally did a good job when it came to staying out of sight. He was no Flash, but he was quick. Quick enough to avoid being watched if he needed to be. And in a world where he was written as a fictional character? Clark really needed to avoid the extra attention.
Gently landing on the roof, Clark immediately noticed that it was already occupied. The complex was a different story. He didn't have to hide who he was here. More importantly, Clark didn't need to hide who he was from the person that he found on the roof, because that person was, in fact, Kon-El.
Kon had been troubled lately. He wasn't eating and all he did was sleep. Clark was worried, but he didn't know how to help him get through this one. The best he could do was be there and that was mostly a difficult thing to do when Kon was always locked up and sleeping the day away.
That didn't mean he didn't want to try. Clark walked over to where Kon was sprawled out and sat down beside him, long legs swinging over the edge of the roof as he settled. "I always did like the view from up here," he commented, looking down.
