John side eyed the girl as he finished off a shot glass of scotch. It was strong but that was exactly what he needed. "Sherlock's been saying a similar thing." Could she read minds? It certainly seemed like it the more she spoke. So he just listened. The way she moved changed his original theory that perhaps she wasn't as innocent as he'd originally suspected. Maybe she could have been a threat, she hardly made a noise. That sort of movement meant control. Still she wasn't acting violent toward him, so he didn't act differently toward her.
He just let his confusion show as she spoke in riddles. Smart must have been Sherlock. He was no genius, but his partner was. And then she mentioned the fall and he visibly paled. "Both I suppose." He paused. "Course I do. He's my best friend." The corners of his mouth tightened uncomfortably. The subject of the Reichenbach was not a favorite, if anything it made him only more uncomfortable. If she was some sort of mind reader there really wasn't much reason to lie. She would just pick up on it anyway.
Watching her carefully he tried to figure her out but really was coming up blank. The amount of super powered types confused him. They had all these people with all these skills but they still couldn't find Moriarty. He didn't blame them, but it was frustrating. The longer they waited, the more Moriarty could get his hands on and the more he worried.
