It was true. They'd snipe all the time, they usually did. But they both really wanted that bastard Molokov out of their lives whatever that took. Freddie had so little time for Anatoly, and there were none who could blame him. But he actually gave a damn about Svetlana, about those two little girls. And of course when he was done with the Russian's he'd come for Florence, and that was way past the line for Freddie. Of course he didn't know what much he could do to get the bastard but Anatoly had decided on a stakeout and he'd heard worse ideas. Watch him, wait for him to make a mistake and move on from there. It was a start. It was something they could go to the cops with. With a simple nod, Freddie was off toward the door and round to where his car was stored. It was a nice model, somewhat retro given what he was used to but with the money he and Florence now had at their fingertips it was worth it.
"School makes sense, you know the guy better than I do after all, he was mostly just some Commie Walter had a deal with. I got money and a chance to get to you and Florence and I took it, not proud of it now but there you go. That said, he's here in the West and we don't let people away with the bullcrap he got away with back there. And things have only gotten better in the last 30 years. Get in and tell me where we're going." he added simply as they reached the car.
The rest it was easiest just to let go, Anatoly had ignored the jab and Freddie knew it made sense to do the same much as it was fun bothering Anatoly. He needed to focus now, to be the bigger man and to get the job done, even if there were few people he could be sitting in his car with that he'd have hated more. He decided just to focus on the road. That was safe, that was easy and that was something he could do without much thought. But it left him with a dilemma? What did you use for casual conversation with the guy that stole your woman and your title in one days work?
"What's your opinion on the Israeli guy challenging the champion? I keep wondering if he might have enough to do it, but he doesn't have the creative flair the Indian does."
