WHO: Clark and Atlanta. WHAT: Racing! WHEN: Afternoon. WHERE: Lawrence, Kansas - can't guarantee they'll stay there! RATING: PG-13. STATUS: In progress.
Clark really hadn't done too much racing. Not at full speed and certainly not on regular foot due to the possibility of accidentally raising suspicion. The only time he'd really gone at his best was when he had been up against Bart. Bart, however, wasn't normal. He was the fastest kid he'd ever seen. This girl, Atlanta, was different too, but Clark didn't really know how fast she was. Faster than a speeding bullet, maybe? That was sort of how he interpreted his own speeds. Really, Clark had never bothered to actually time himself when he went around speeding from place to place. The fact that he was able to get around fast the way that he did was good enough. So long as it kept him from being late and got him to people who were in danger on time, he was fine. Clark didn't need to be the fastest man in the world. He just needed to make sure that people were safe.
That didn't mean that he wasn't allowed to take part in some fun every once and a while. It was why he had agreed to go out and meet Atlanta for a race. He didn't hold any personal stakes in it, but he thought that getting out and doing something outside of work and harassing Lois and Chloe would be good for himself. Plus, he needed to meet more people. What better way than this?
And even Clark had to admit that it was nice: being here, with these people, he didn't have to hide who he was. They already knew and appeared to be accepting of it for the most part. Clark had never had that kind of opportunity before. Back home, everything about him had been a secret. While he still had enough sense to keep the alien part of himself secret around strangers, Clark felt a lot more free with the group of people he lived with.
He was standing outside of the apartments, dressed in a blue t-shirt shirt and jeans. He had been out there for all of ten seconds, so he wasn't worried about Atlanta not being there just yet. He had plenty of patience and didn't mind waiting for her to meet him.
