He heard her come in and he couldn't help it. His face lit up slightly. By the time Kim had finished talking to the teen working the counter, though, he'd gone back to his original appearance. Hopeful, slightly, but mostly just dark and quiet. It wasn't the best look for Connor Temple, really. Usually he had the facial expression of a puppy playing catch. But that face hadn't appeared in weeks. He wasn't happy. In fact, he was miserable. He was lonely and afraid and all he wanted was for things to be as they'd been.
"Hi," he offered when she sat down. She looked beautiful, but something was off. Not just the hair color, obviously that was different. But something else. Something someone else might have been able to place but he couldn't. "I'm glad you came. It looks good," he added, nodding at her new hairstyle. And it did, though he thought he really did prefer the brunette. More natural or something. Or maybe just less glamorous and therefore, more willing to be with a guy like him.
Which wasn't fair. She'd always been willing. Well, except when her New York sorority girl self had shown up, but he really hadn't wanted a girl like that anyway. He wouldn't have had a family with that girl.
"I just...I guess I..." Suave would never be a word used to describe Connor. And now he was trying to put into words what the last several weeks had done to him. Not happening. At least not without some work. "How are you?"
