The result of Nico's fishing around: four golden drachmas along with a dime, two nickels, and a rather deformed penny. He stared dismally at the find. That would've been enough for a few cups several years ago, but of course a seventy year time jump meant a seventy year price increase. Maybe he could convince someone to sell him a very small cup of coffee -- or, if he was lucky, he'd run into a demigod barista who would accept a drachma. Hmm. Or Grover could open a travelling faun espresso bar for the purpose. Nico smiled slightly at the mental image.
He looked up, startled at the greeting, and quickly closed his hand around the coins. "Good morning, ma'am," he replied with a nod, shoving his cash back in his pocket. "Is everything okay?"
His tone was cautious. He'd gotten harassed by local authorities for loitering before, but he'd figured it was early enough here that probably no one had noticed him in the park. Maybe he was wrong.
