Who: Gaia and OPEN!
What: An arrival!
When: Tonight
Where: Near a park in Lawrence
Warning: Gaia has fowl language more often than not, though unless you know Latin that won't really mean much, possibly touch of opium use to help her deal with this place. Otherwise everything else is TBA.

Knowing the bad blood that existed between Lucretia and Tullius for unsavory happening of the past, when the man not only had had the balls to show up at the party, but to challenge Gannicus to a duel and then try to kill him, Gaia had resigned herself to inserting herself to lessen the tension as much as she could. She'd take care of Tullius and keep him away from Lucretia. It was the least she could do for her friend, and in the meantime she hoped to play upon the crush Tullius had once had on her to secure him for her husband. As she made her way through the party, she procured a fresh cup of wine, needing a little courage for this. But as soon as she'd gotten the wine, she was suddenly not within Lucretia's house anymore. The sounds of the depravity happening around her had silenced. And now other sounds had replaced them, causing her to stand in place, trying to discern what had just happened.

"By the gods, what madness is this?" She asked in Latin, not directing the question to anyone. She looked around her, certain she had not had any opium that day, so she wasn't on a drug high. And she certainly wasn't drunk either. She may have a little buzz, but she was not drunk enough to hallucinate. So she was outdoors and it was night. All right, it had been night just moments earlier. Maybe she'd passed out without knowing it and was dreaming? But that wouldn't explain why this felt so real.

All right, so she needed to find out what had happened and where she was so she could get back to Lucretia. Without her presence, no doubt Tullius would do something horrible again. And she'd promised Lucretia she'd handle him. Drawing in a breath, Gaia spotted what looked to be a path off to her left. Using her free hand to hold the skirt of her long emerald gown, she walked over to it, keeping her eyes open for anyone else. Surely someone would be able to give her the answers she desperately needed. When she reached the path, she looked up and down it, but found it empty.

"Jupiter's fucking cock, where is everyone?" Now she was getting a little agitated. Then again, who wouldn't be when they suddenly and unexplainably found themselves in a place they shouldn't be in? Spying what seemed to be a road, she head in that direction, making her way through the park she was obviously in. She'd never seen a park quite like this, it was far too plain to be called Roman. But when she got near the road, a car went speeding buy, causing her to jump back in surprise. Stepping on to the sidewalk, she looked down the road after it, and saw others like it, both moving and parked. Deep confusion crossed her face. What were those contraptions? And how did those giant torches function without fire burning in them to illuminate the night?

So Gaia did the only thing she could think of in that moment. She took a long drink of wine from the golden cup she held in her hand. Then from her cleavage, she pulled out a round bottle no larger than two inches in diameter. She took the top off of it and tapped some of the contents into her wine. Replacing the cap, she returned the bottle to her cleavage. If she wasn't yet high to hallucinate this, she damned well was going to be because this made absolutely no sense. She gently swirled the wine in the glass, allowing the opium to mix with the liquid before she consumed it. Glancing up and down the street, she truly had no idea where to go or what to do. And she'd be damned if she stayed right where she was. She wasn't a common whore, she did have standards!

All ready he was apologizing. Gaia wasn't sure whether she should be grateful for his manners or angry about it. For the moment, she would be grateful for his manners. It was a quality in people Gaia generally liked. She didn't respond well to those who acted like barbarians, which this man wasn't. So she would simply see what he had to say, and then go from there. After all, it would do her no good to not hear him out. She had to figure out where she was so she could then try and get herself back home, back to Lucretia before everything went horribly wrong.

Glancing sidelong at Angel, Gaia arched a brow in both curiosity and confusion. "How do you mean? Has so much happened that it is difficult to find how to begin explanation?" Gaia didn't like the sound of that. To her, it had only been an instant. She wasn't even considering the fact she could have moved through time. Then again, she would never think such a thing. Such things didn't exist in her world. There was divination, magic of sorts, but no time travel. Only the gods themselves had those kinds of powers, not mere mortals.

"You could say that," he said with a slight nod at her far too close for comfort assumption. A few short minutes later, the building was coming into view, although he knew, thanks to the nifty little charm Tonks had put on the place, Gaia couldn't see it just yet. "We're going to my office," he explained, "it's just ahead, there's a spare room in the back, if you should need to stay the night." He'd explain about the complex in a bit, but he had to make her aware of the place before they came on it.

Once they arrived, he unlocked the door and held it open for her before going inside himself. He shut the door behind himself and turned back to face her. Time for the reveal. "You might think I'm mad, for what I'm about to tell you, but I assure you, it's all true and you can confirm it with almost anyone else in town," he started off. "First of all...you have made, I'm thinking somewhere in the ballpark of a two thousand year jump forward in time." He though maybe that should be digested first before he move on.

Well, this was going to be a completely grand conversation. Gaia wasn't exactly liking the overtones here. She followed Angel, glancing at the buildings as they passed. This was certainly not some barbarian land, but the architecture was so strange. Certainly unlike anything she'd ever seen before. She wasn't exactly sure where they even were in the world, but she knew it was no land under Roman rule, and the barbarians certainly never had settlements like this city. "All right," she replied with a nod of acknowledgement to going to his office. "And gratitude for the offer of a room. I have a feeling it may be needed." She didn't exactly have money with her, and she was fairly certain the money she would have had on her would not be taken as currency in this place.

Once inside, Gaia glanced around for a moment before Angel turned to her and started the explanation. At hearing she'd traveled forward about two thousand years, Gaia's mouth dropped open. For several moments, she stood there in stunned silence. "Two thousand years? But, how? Did the gods do this?" Because that was the only explanation that jumped into her head. Gaia, who was normally very composed and able to mask things like shock, was unable to conceal such now. Really, two thousands ahead in time? She couldn't really believe it.

"No, not exactly." He shook his head. He wasn't sure she would be able to follow the usual 'Welcome to the Apocalypse' version of the explanation, so Angel was trying to reword things in his head as he went along. "There's a war going on here, it's...complicated, it's kind of religious in nature." She wouldn't even know about Christianity, so he didn't know how to go about explaining this war, exactly.

"There's a magical portal of sorts that brought you here, why, I can't exactly answer, but it has pulled people from several different worlds here to help in the war," he wondered if she was going to believe this.

At the mention of war, Gaia wasn't exactly surprised. After all, there was always talk of fighting and such in Rome. She'd heard many tales of the battles in the barbarian lands. She'd just never imagined herself being anywhere near war, let alone being in one. While she mostly followed the war track, as soon as the magic portal was mentioned, Gaia got a bit of a blank look in her dark eyes.

"Magical portal. So what, some conjurer made this portal and plucks unsuspecting people from their own lives and puts them here leaving them feel like they have just been fucked hard and left in the street?" It was a crude way of putting it, but Gaia did have a fowl mouth sometimes, and the language seemed appropriate at the moment. "I cannot deny that it actually happened because this building is not of Roman origin, and it is far too sophisticated to be in the unconquered lands. But still, a fucking magical portal? And is there some reason we are here? I am no soldier so I do not see why I would be here."

"Kind of." he was glad that, exact details be damned, she did seem to be following what he was saying, even if she very obviously felt it was completely outlandish. "Many years after your time, a new religion arises that says there is one God, who created all things on earth and within the universe as a whole. He had followers, angels, who lived with him in a sort of utopia called Heaven, but one of these angels, Lucifer, fell from grace and was cast away for his wrongdoings to a place that was basically the exact opposite of Heaven, all the horrorific, bad things dwelled there in this place called Hell."

He paused for a moment before going on to say, "That's the most basic idea behind the religious aspect of this war I can really give you. There were magical seals over hell that kept Lucifer and his demons trapped there, but these seals have since been broken and it's caused a disruption that allows this portal I mentioned before to pull people across time and space. I don't think anyone is exactly sure about how or why the seal chooses who it does, it's something you slowly learn to simply accept." Although Angel was fully aware that acceptance of all of this may be a bit harder on Gaia than some of the others. Everyone adjusted differently and in their own time.

Gaia listened to Angel, though she couldn't help but feel like she was listening to a story meant to scare young children. Or wayward girls into reforming themselves. So this was strange, really. And the concept of one god? She'd heard of something vaguely similar, but she didn't recall the details. After all, they didn't concern her, and she was a proud Roman. Moreso all that mattered to her was her own happiness and she didn't give a damn about anyone else other than Lucretia. So even though she listened, she couldn't help but look at Angel like he had two heads.

"So this religion as you say, is the basis of this war happening here? That is a new one, I have not heard that one before. And what does this apparent all mighty god have to say about this fucking war?" Her tone was a bit sarcastic, but it was mostly just her coping mechanism than anything else. Obviously somewhere deep inside she believed Angel because it was rather obvious she wasn't in ancient Italy any longer, but that didn't mean she had to accept it all right that second. And so, she was going to embark upon her other coping mechanism. She downed the rest of the opium-laced wine and took a deep breath, knowing the high would kick in soon enough. Maybe then all of this would make more sense. And if it didn't? Well, she wouldn't care. She'd be happy enough being in a euphoric state. Too bad Lucretia wasn't here.

"That's...a really good question." He admitted, arching an eyebrow at the thought. Where was the, as she put it, all mighty god, in all of this? "I don't have an answer for that myself, but I'm sure there are others here, the natives, they can probably help explain it all in more detail."

"I know it's a lot to take in, but...you'll adjust, in your own ways, at your own pace, everyone does, eventually, if they're here long enough. If you like, I can try to help you play history catch up of the last two thousand years, and help you learn some of the technological advances while you're here tonight."

And no answer. Not that Gaia had truly expected one because the gods tended to speak in strange ways and make their wishes knows in less than blatantly obvious ways. But still, it stood to reason that if there was a war being waged meant to destroy the world or whatever, that the god directly affected by it would take an active interest in stopping it.

So her response was to pace back and forth a bit, holding her gold cup in both hands, fingers strumming against it anxiously. "Two thousand years," she repeated, mostly to herself. Angel was offering help to her, and Gaia wasn't stupid enough to refuse. Even if there hadn't been a jump forwards in time, which she still wasn't certain whether or not to believe, she did need to know where the fuck she was and she needed someone who knew that to help her. After several moments, she stopped pacing and looked at Angel. "I would be very grateful for your help. Apologies for not seeming more grateful for this, that is far from the truth. It is just...completely unimaginable that this has occurred. But I accept any help you are able to give me in learning about what I have missed and the technological advances." Then she remembered the possibility of language barriers. "What language is spoken here? If it is not Latin, I had better learn how to speak it, as crude as it may be." Which only proved how truly Roman she was. She looked down upon other languages, though in the current situation, it would be to her advantage to learn the native language here if she wished to get anywhere.

"It's all right, it's....a huge adjustment, I understand." Although he was one of the few that was used to the idea of different dimensions, separate worlds, things of that nature, he was quite aware that this was not a normal thing for most people to have dealt with in their lives, so the fact that she wasn't overtly expressing gratitude? Not really all that big of a deal at this point.

"Primarily? English. I don't know if you've heard of it, but I can help you learn the language as well." He assured her with a slight nod. He would do anything he could to help her.

Once she'd adjusted to things, Gaia would make her gratitude known. But until then, she was going to feel like a fish out of water. But for now, Angel would just have to make do with the acceptance of his assistance. Closing her eyes for a few moments, she started to feel the opium starting to take effect. The sense of euphoria was beginning to take hold. Taking a deep breath, she let it out slowly, opened her eyes and looked back at Angel.

"English? No, I cannot say I have heard of that. Gratitude for the offer, it would prove most useful and helpful," she replied with a generous smile. Gaia was starting to get a slightly glazed-look to her dark eyes, an effect of the euphoria she was starting to feel. "So tell me, Angel, other than fighting in this apparent war, what do you do? You know, for fun." It was just like Gaia to go straight to the heart of getting to know what there was for fun around here. She did not like things being so serious all the time, and she'd really need to be able to replenish her opium at some point along the way. It wouldn't hurt to get started on this as soon as possible.

"Don't mention it, it's the least I can do." he nodded. Helping people was what he did best, so he didn't think anything of it, really.

However, when she asked what he did for fun, Angel couldn't help but let an amused smirk cross his lips. He was probably the last person to ask that sort of question. "I'm probably not the best person to ask about that, actually. I'm...kind of a loner, stay mostly to myself."

Upon hearing that Angel was a loner, Gaia tilted her head to the side a bit. "A handsome man such as yourself a loner? Crime against the gods!" She couldn't help but give him a once over. He was quite handsome and Gaia was the type to flirt with anyone as long as they were attractive or rich. If they were rich, she would flirt no matter the state of their looks. But being attractive certainly helped matters.

"So if you keep to yourself, what do you do to pass the time? Surely there must be something." After all, everyone had something they did to pass the time. Gaia just tended to spend hers fucking or high. Or both. Unless she had a task she needed to accomplish, then she'd stay sober. The sex would remain part of it. She couldn't help it, Gaia was a physical kind of woman.

He chuckled softly at her exclaimation. "It's kind of the way I've been for a...very long time. You get used to anything after the right amount of time passes." Most things, anyway. Some things, he wasn't sure he'd ever get used to.

"I help people. Some such as yourself, who are displaced, and others who have special circumstances that render them unable to go to proper authorities for help..." That was vague, but perhaps, for now, it would be enough to suffice.

All ready Gaia was working on how exactly to get Angel into bed. Why shouldn't she? It wasn't as though she had anything better to do. Though just going off of what he'd said, actually succeeding in this venture would be difficult. But Gaia liked a challenge, and if she couldn't be with Lucretia and helping her or working to secure herself a new rich husband, then she damned well was going to enjoy herself! "Do you? It must get rather lonely at times, doesn't it?"

Yes it was vague, but Gaia didn't mind that at the moment. Sometimes an air of mystery was what one needed in order to pursue something. "Helping those who need it, I can see the allure of that." Only...she sort of couldn't. Gaia was rather self-centered, but also in the culture she came from, one didn't exactly help out those less fortunate than they were. Well, at least Gaia had never done so. "At least it is something to keep you sitting idle and wasting away?"
