America. Gaia frowned in confusion. That was not a land she was familiar with. "I have not heard of America before. Is it in the barbarian lands? Near Gaul perhaps?" Gaia wasn't the best with geography, but she was fairly certain this "America" had to be one of the unconquered barbarian lands to the north. Or at least that's what she would tell herself for now. Though she wasn't exactly happy to be outside of the Roman Empire. Who knew what kinds of horrendous things the barbarians would do to a Roman woman of good standing such as herself? Though the man she was speaking with was very pleasant and helpful, so she was liking this so far.
"I am from the city of Capua within the Roman Empire. The last thing I remember was I was at a party I helped arrange for my friend Lucretia. The elite of Capua society were there. Now, I am here and do not understand how such a thing could happen. Unless this is the hand of the gods at work, for I have not consumed enough wine to cause me to believe this to be real." She looked up at the man. "It was the year of consulship of Cn. Octavius, if that helps any." Which was the ancient Roman way of telling the years apart. Translating it to the modern day calendar would place her in the year 76 BC. Capua was also a city in southwestern Italy, making her a natural Roman citizen and not having just been enveloped upon being conquered by it.
