Ron may not have been the brightest person in the world when it came to understanding the complexities of the female mind, but he wasn't completely daft. He could tell that she hadn't taken what he had said about the bubble situation terribly well. Bloody well figured, it did. He couldn't keep his mouth shut if someone paid him to. Awkwardly, he scratched at the back of his head, then lifted his shoulders upward into an uncertain little shrug. "Right. Heated up the - yeah. I 'spose that'd do it." Not that Ron actually knew anything about heating up molecules, but agreeing with her seemed like the plan at the moment. It was better than ticking her off, anyway. Ron didn't do so well with women who were furious with him. They weren't quite as forgiving as blokes and they never forgot.
"I could've locked it," Ron pointed out. "Might've saved you the trouble of doing whatever it is that you did to it." Heated it up. Just like she would've done with the bubble. All right as she made it out to be, the idea of Rikki heating up anything he was trapped inside didn't exactly make Ron want to dance with joy. Neither did the picture of him reaching out and grabbing onto a scolding hot doorknob. He'd been burned more than enough times in his lifetime, between the brains he'd gotten tangled into at the Ministry and the contents of Lestrange's vault attacking them at Gringott's every time they touched anything on the inside. At the thought, Ron reached up to his arm, fingers tracing over the sleeve of his shirt, following a path he knew the folds of his shirt were hiding. They'd been able to heal up the burns from the vault just fine. The cursed brains from the Ministry, though...
"Complicated how?" There had to be more than it's complicated to the story. Rikki wasn't telling him something. "You've got all these powers that you can use to manipulate water and you're telling me you can't play Quidditch in damp weather? That can't be all there is to it."
Anti-climatic? "Oh, I dunno. That whole bit where you made me think you were gonna cook me up in a bubble brought on quite the thrill," Ron joked, hoping to rid them of the uncomfortable tension.
