Distracted by the sight of Rikki closing her fingers into a tight fist and screwing her eyes shut, Ron didn't notice what had happened to the door. He had been far too busy trying to decide on whether or not she was on the verge of having some sort of mental episode because, on his end, her sudden gesture had been odd. Ron swallowed back a sarcastic retort, the words only fully silencing in his throat when he noticed that there was something going on with the door handle behind him. Wait. What? Why was there smoke...? Bloody hell, this was a trap. She had trapped him in here and - er, no. Maybe not. Could he apparate here? Ron knew that the building was magicked up quite a bit, but he didn't know if the protections on the place worked the same way that they did back at Hogwarts. No apparation was allowed there, but who was to say that there was a spell strong enough to block out his magic here?
Ron was on the verge of giving it a go, but Rikki's words momentarily held him back. So what if he was her favourite Harry Potter character? Locked door. Stranger. Oh, Merlin, she was one of those fans, wasn't she? She was going to tie him up and sing him creepy songs and...and...
The pool was bubbling. Sort of like a hot bath, but...not. Ron tilted his head to the side, carefully edging his way toward the water. "That was how you planned on getting me out of that bubble? You were going to cook me up like some sort of stew?!" Unless the bubble would've popped before the ginger stew would have occurred. Well, that probably wouldn't have been so bad, then. "Er, I mean...that wouldn't have done any damage on my end, would it? How long does it take to pop a bubble like that...?"
He was trying to mind his manners. Keep his mouth shut. All that rubbish that he'd been advised to do. It was because of his inability to keep himself from blabbering on that had gotten him trapped in that bubble in the first place. The last thing he needed to do was go on and set someone else off. Especially the someone who had used their powers to trap him in the same room. Though, Ron supposed he could've found a way to charm the door open anyway. But still. Paranoia. He wasn't quite over it all yet.
As soon as Rikki pulled her hand back, the pool went back to normal. She hadn't needed a wand and it didn't look like she had to work herself up to get the water going like that. Without the creepy factor and all that, Ron had to admit that it was really quite brilliant. People with abilities amounted up to wizards and witches doing wandless magic back home. It never failed to amaze him.
"How're you able to do that?" Ron couldn't help but wonder. He was still a touch on edge, but now that Rikki had settled back a bit, Ron felt less likely to be mauled by boiling hot chlorine. Maybe the door thing was because she wanted to keep it all a secret? Yeah, Ron supposed that made sense...
"Yeah. Through rain and snow if it's important enough. Games and practice and all that," Ron answered, watching Rikki curiously. "Why?"
