"Couch is fine," Ava let out a quiet laugh. "Sure beats sleepin' in an alley, right?" She was no stranger to literally living on the streets. She could remember the first time she and Liz were acquainted. Ava was trying to catch her sleep behind the Crashdown Cafe and Liz was appalled to see the hybrid living that way. That was when Ava had come to realize that there were genuinely nice people in the world.
"Where I'm from it's 2002. I lost years." Ava shook her head as she followed Liz inside, getting comfortable on another seat in the room. "This whole thing is freakin' messed up and I got a feeling it's just the tip of the iceberg, y'know?"
"Least it seems kinda safe, right?" She sighed. She wasn't about to fully let her guard down just because things seemed safe. It always seemed that bad things happened when you least expected them to.
