"Both of them?" Chris blurted. How was all of this even be possible? What had him being there done? Oh, Leo and Piper had stayed together in his time. Mostly. Enough for him to be conceived, obviously. But it wasn't long after that that Wyatt had truly started to come into himself and all their time had been spent dealing with the mishaps their eldest had created. Certainly not enough time for Mel to be created, obviously. And not enough time to take care of their younger son. And, eventually, not enough time to continue their marriage. Then Piper had died and Leo had been even more distant and yes, eventually, Chris had grown to despise his father. That had changed, of course, during his time in the past. Maybe future Leo and he wouldn't hate each other either.
Exhaling, Chris let the relief wash over him. He was sort of enjoying this insane new world. No, his parents weren't there, or his brother or his aunts. Sort of. But he did have a kid sister, a beautiful sister who he'd be able to grow up tormenting and being tormented by. And that wasn't so bad, was it? In fact, he liked it. The idea of a solid family unit, normal siblings and loving parents? It was amazing.
Finally a genuine Chris grin came out when she talked about them growing up. He and Wyatt chasing off the boys who'd come to the door? Yeah, looking at the girl in front of him, he could imagine that. Especially if she was as much trouble as she'd said she was when he'd first met her.
"A year?" That caused the grin to drop a little. Somehow this didn't seem like the kind of place you'd end up in for a full year. And then... "How is the freaking apocalypse taking that long? I kind of though once it started it'd be over, you know? Like...a few weeks and it's all out in the open. These people..." He nodded at a couple across the street, kids playing a few buildings nearby, "do they know?"
