It was a strange thing that Chris had been dropped so close to the complex. Then again, when Mel had popped into Lawrence she had been asleep. So, she'd been left on someone's lawn, and then she'd found Sam, who had thought she was Ruby. Looking back on it, it was much funnier than it was in the moment. She remembered how completely confused he had made her. He'd been flirting, pretending he didn't know his own wife. Of course, Mel hadn't known that at the time. She'd just been werided out. The seal really did like to fuck with people right off the bat. Chris definitely had it rough with how he was dropped in, but things were definitely good now. He was safe with Mel. She understood him looking around and checking things out. He'd figure out that he was safe, though. He'd also get used to the whole having a sister thing. Chris wasn't totally un-adaptable.
Mel let go of his shoulder only after she knew he was stable. And when he spoke, she couldn't help but smile. Obviously their mom living was a good thing and obviously he was trying to wrap his mind around it. Giving a slight lift of her shoulders, the younger Halliwell spoke, "She lives. In my time we have both of them. So, whatever you did, you did it right, apparently? Even if you didn't mean to." That was the only explanation. Apparently he set off a trigger of events that lead to the good future that they wound up with back home. Mel definitely wasn't going to complain about that at all. She was glad that she had both parents, her aunts and uncles, and her horde of cousins. She could see that starting bit of a smile that he had going on, though. She really couldn't help but be glad that she had him around now. She thought she realized how much she had missed him before and she'd been wrong. She hadn't even realized just how much she had missed him until now.
He was definitely starting to show her signs of the Chris that she had known all her life. This was a good thing! This was what she wanted, the Chris she knew.
Mel snorted a little at his questions. "Three years and I was pesky when I was younger. Of course you guys broke my toys. And then when I got old enough to date you scared boys away and got all over-protective. You both lived up to the big brother expectations to a tee. In fact, you're both definitely pains in my asses most of the time." She said it all with a smile, to show him that nothing really upset her. She was actually really happy to be sharing all of these things with him.
Mel looked at the place she'd called home for so often. There'd been good and bad here, but on first glance it was so normal looking. Hearing his question, she spared him a look. "Damn near a year. Feels like longer, though. A lot has happened in a shortish period of time."
