Nine was worried about Eleven. His older self seemed depressed. Ever since Althea had returned to her own time in the future. One of many possible futures. He was depressed too. The girl had been truly fantastic and beautiful. Yes, he wasn't the correct version of her father but that didn't mean he didn't love her any less.
But Nine still worried over Romana and the Master getting together and creating that time bomb of destruction, Elizaveta. He could understand the want for home. He felt it every day. But he had killed the Time Lords, sealed them into the Time War for all time, to protect the universe and give it a chance at life. Returning Gallifrey would destroy all of that.
Having taken to walking around the college town for something to do, Nine spotted a cafe. Deciding for some tea (even if it wasn't as good as English tea. Over the years he had come to adore proper English tea), he walked in and headed for the counter when the hairs on the back of his neck wibbled as Eleven would say. He paused and looked around. Most everyone seemed normal.
Until his eyes landed on a brown haired young woman. First glance she seemed human. But Nine knew to be suspicious, especially here in Lawrence. So he discreetly pulled his sonic screwdriver out and did a quick scan of the woman. Human...with alien powers. Oh that was fantastic! He loved meeting new versions of living things and a human with alien powers (River Song aside of course) was bloody brilliant.
Sidling past a few people, he plopped himself down next to her and gave her a grin. "So, a bit lost?"
