Neither of her parents? What, was he suggesting they run away? A part of her really wouldn't mind that. Get away from the insanity of this place. But Rose knew she never could let that happen. She'd made such wonderful friends here. She'd never be able to walk away and let everyone else fight this war. Especially with the future River had seen.
Besides, she didn't entirely consider Pete her dad anyway. She knew he cared about her, but they'd still been feeling each other out when she'd started her work on the cannon, and she hadn't let herself get close to him. Now who knew when she'd get that chance?
His question, though, admittedly caught her even more off guard. "I don't know," she admitted quietly, staring at his chest to avoid his eyes. "I assumed it was a Time Lord sort of thing. Or maybe that you didn't have one that we'd recognize so..." Her shoulders lifted in a small shrug. "I trust you. I figured you had to have your reasons."
