Watching as Anna flexed her hand as if to test it, Izzy returned the smile. Her heart ached at the idea of having to hurt the woman just to make things better, but other than the yelp which was to be expected, Izzy thought that Anna had done very well, given the situation.
Not wanting to hurt the other woman's pride, Izzy stood back a step to give her a chance to try getting to her feet on her own. When she nearly collapsed, Izzy caught her and held on until she was confident that Anna had regained her balance and would be all right on her own. Well, as all right as she could be, anyway. "Careful," she said quietly, leading the way to the locker room. "Let me help you, okay? Please," she insisted in the same low and soothing voice she'd been using since she'd walked into the medbay.
Once they were in the locker room, Izzy stood back again to let Anna do whatever it was she needed to do to in order to be more comfortable. Anything that could help her would be better than watching her suffer as a human, so even if Izzy was a little nervous about whether her affinity for animals would equate to werewolf whispering, she kept her mouth shut and waited. It wasn't easy to watch the change, so Izzy decided not to, turning her head and closing her eyes, trying to block out what she'd already seen. No one should have to undergo that sort of transformation, Izzy thought, not even a technical monster.
Izzy finally opened her eyes when she heard the canine whimpering. "Hey, it's okay..." she reassured, approaching and kneeling beside the bench, making a conscious effort not to look the wolf in the eye the way she had the human. Dogs were different; eye contact could be perceived as a threat and Izzy meant Anna no harm in either form. "It's gonna be okay, Anna, I can fix it."
Her eyes scanned the wolf's body, finding it more difficult to distinguish the bloodied fur because it was all so dark. "I have to touch," she warned, moving with deliberate slowness to keep the wolf calm. "I can't see, so I have to feel and I'm not gonna hurt you, okay?"
