The future had been a hard one indeed. Gone was the River Song Rory had come to know. While at her core, she still had the same personality and cared deeply for her friends, she had a harder shell around her and far less patience when it came to dealing with people she didn't like or were doing the wrong things, in her opinion. So much had been lost in the future, so many friendships broken, people lost. Perhaps in being here, she could get through to someone, anyone, and help change the future, make it a better one. Ideally, she wanted Elizaveta to never exist, but there was so much else she wanted to change, so many people she wanted to save in the future.
"Tea would be wonderful, thank you," she replied, smiling gently at her father. She gazed at him for a few moments longer than necessary, still trying to compute that he was actually there and alive. She really had missed him. He had been a constant in her life, even in their own world when her timeline had been inverse to his own. But she'd always knew she could turn to him for anything and he would never forsake her.
Spotting a chair, River went over and sat down on it. "That is an excellent lesson to have learned. Especially in this world where the impossible seems to happen every day. Then again, that's not much different from traveling with the Doctor." She chuckled softly, though it was short lived. Her humor had suffered greatly, but there were a few people who could still bring it out of her.
