ean rubbed his hand over his face; tired, as he walked towards where his brother was currently staying. His newly fourteen year old brother. His too-smart-for-his-own-good-overly-curious-and-with-the-questions-researching-stuff-geek-boy brother. Dean Winchester could lie better than the best of them when he had to; however, he had no idea what he was going to tell Sam. A lie would probably be the best bet. Dad was out on a hunt and he'd forgotten to charge is phone. Again. But little Sammy didn't have to worry about it because they'd fix this. He really hoped they fixed it.
There was a time, hell there were still moments, where Dean would wish for his brother back at the age he currently was. Younger even. When things were simpler and Dean's biggest worry was trying to think up a new way of entertaining the youngest Winchester. Of protecting him and keeping him as safe as he could and relatively happy. For the most part ... things were still the same. Except he didn't have to worry so much about entertaining Sam since he did that on his own. And keeping the thought process out of perverted and on track with serious, a lot of those ways worried him. Some of them pissed him off. There were so many other factors, things they didn't even have to consider twelve years ago. Life had been simpler back then. Comparatively speaking. And Dean really wouldn't have minded if he'd turned eighteen in all of this mess.
You know, with out the far too perceptive for their own good high school girls. No, with the second go 'round he would have stuck solely with older and merciful enough to keep their opinions to themselves women. Because at eighteen he would have been young, yes. But he also would have been legal.
Dean took in how homey the place was looking. Yeah, even though the lobby didn't have bedrooms, he already saw stuff that signified that there were people who lived there. And apparently enjoyed it too. He noticed a litter of toys. Likely left by one of the kids. He was heading up the stairs when he ran into .. Paige. Yeah, he was pretty sure of that. And then she introduced herself, they chatted briefly and she told him where his brother was staying. And that was where Dean headed. When he reached the door he knocked slightly, "Sam?" He called out. Before trying the door knob. Finding it unlocked Dean let himself in.
