Suddenly finding herself back in 2012 wasn't phasing at all to River. After all, she'd been time traveling for her entire life. While she had gotten used to just being on one single, linear timeline to everyone else from her universe, she'd sort of forgotten the feeling of time travel. She was surprised at seeing so many people again, though inwardly she was sad to know how many of them would meet their end in the future. She couldn't help but now feel the way the Doctor surely must have felt when she'd first met him. He had always known how she would die, though obviously that fate had been rewritten, or at least put on hold, while she'd been in this world.
River Song didn't have much of a soft side anymore, not after all the death she'd been witness to in her future, but she still had it in spades with Althea, Nine, Ten, Rose and Leia. Though she tended to let her softer side show far more often when she was around Althea. She cared a great deal for the girl, and she had worked tirelessly to help her out of the belief that was was the sacrifice. River knew Eleven would not want his daughter to go down that path, so she refused to let her. And now it seemed she'd have to double back and do everything in her power to once again convince Althea that she wasn't the sacrifice and that her father wouldn't want that for her.
Upon first entering the room, River saw all the strings with paper attached to them. It took her only a moment to realize this was a map of all the timelines and the changes being made to the futures of each one. Okay, she could handle that. Then she next noticed the blood on Althea's arm. Shit. Well, she could handle that, too. Though Althea was right that if River knew what she was planning, she would stop it. She'd sooner put an end to the Master, or Romana, or both, to keep Elizaveta from being born.
First thing's first. Take care of the blood as much as she could. Careful to avoid getting caught in any of the strings, River stepped close to Althea, gently putting her hand on the girl's shoulder, trying to draw her focus onto her.
"Try your best to focus on me. I know you can't completely drown everything else out, but focus on me, my timeline, my presence." Her tone was gentle, but stern enough to get through to Althea. She knew it was the only way to get Althea to begin to calm down. If she could get her to focus on one singular timeline, focus on the present, then River could start with everything else. She wasn't about to let Althea lose herself within the ever-tangling web of timelines, both manifested within this room and within her own mind. Taking a cloth out of her pocket, she then gently took Althea's right arm and started to gently wipe the excess blood away.
