Anatoly Sergievsky is a doctor not a chess player ([info]haventwonatall) wrote in [info]wariscoming,
As much as Anatoly hated the last five years of their lives, what he had done to his family, he thought it was undoubtedly the better course of events than if Molokov had gotten Svetlana to be his champion-to-be. Obviously Molokov would've had to use extremely careful tactics to get Svetlana to have even consented to such a thing in the past, but there was no doubt it would've been a far more dangerous situation. But it would always be the same story, pride was Anatoly's downfall, the one thing that could undo him and everyone around him. He seriously hoped he knew the signs to watch for well enough to keep him from following the same path. And to do that, he had to keep his focus on his family. With them firmly in his sights and his knowing this is where he belonged, he had to believe that he could stand against whatever Molokov would throw at him.

He listened carefully as Svetlana reflected on what had been said during her conversation with the man. It was good the bastard didn't know their daughters were here yet, but it probably wouldn't take very long until he did discover that. Of course, he knew the threats wouldn't just remain threats. Molokov would try to make good on them, and that's where they needed to focus part of their defense.

"I know magic isn't something either of us is really familiar with, but do you think one of the magic users would be able to craft a spell that could at least keep Molokov from hurting the girls? Some type of protection spell or something?" If they could keep the girls protected at all times with a spell that could repel Molokov from harming them, or really anyone wishing to harm them, that would at least give him some peace of mind. His worst fear was that bastard getting his hands on one or both of his daughters. Though he did know that if Molokov took the girls, Anatoly would not submit to the man. Instead, there would be a trail of blood and limbs, ending with him taking Molokov's head clean off his shoulders.

"If we can get the girls some protection and insurance that they won't be harmed, that will be a good step. Aside from that, we need to chip away at his weaknesses. He has no KGB here to call upon which will no doubt irritate him as he will have to forge new alliances in a country that represents everything he hates. And on some level, I believe he fears freedom. He also has that obsessive need to be in control of everything, and he doesn't have that control here. If we can keep throwing a kink into his plans, dodge his carefully placed threats and attacks, he might not know how to handle that." Because really, Molokov didn't seem to handle being off his game well. "Every time he makes his presence known, we can point out in some way that this world is chaotic, it cannot be controlled to his liking and never could be."
