Who: Anakin Solo and Elena Gilbert
What: Why does the Seal suck, let me count the ways. Or you know, catching up. Shut up, it's not a date
When: Afternoonish, 8 February 2012
Where: Random cafe in Lawrence
Warnings: Clearly there is a release of pent up desire. Clearly. Or you know. Angst if anything.

In the end, Elena hadn't gotten any sleep the night before. Well, real sleep. She had started to doze on the couch for a bit but that hadn't lasted long and it was far from relaxing. So after the first jolting awake she did, Elena had ended up staying up. She had caught up on the boards to see what had happened in the month she'd been gone. And it seemed like there had been a mass influx of crazy while she was gone. Not that it made her feel any better. Truthfully, she would have preferred the month of crazy as opposed to the six months of hell that had been Mystic Falls. But there was nothing Elena could really do about that so she just rolled with it. Thankfully, she had heard from Anakin which meant that he was at least still around. Rose had gone quiet but as she hadn't seen any posts about her going missing, Elena was hopeful that the companion was just busy and would be around later.

Noticing the time, Elena sent a text to Anakin about meeting up and showered before changing and leaving after telling Jeremy where she was going. Despite having spoken with Elphie on the comms, she hadn't seen the green witch, which was actually rather worrisome. Note to self. Bother Elphie when she got back from tea. And hopefully Galinda would be around by then, but if she wasn't there, that probably meant she was still with that James guy so who knew. Once she felt a semblance of put together, Elena left the house and started towards town, finding the cafe she and Anakin usually went to when she decided he was being too quiet for his own good and needed to be dragged out somewhere.

Stepping in, the brunette smiled slightly. Well, despite the chaos going on, it certainly seemed to be normal here at least. And normal was definitely something she could use at the moment. Going to the counter, Elena blinked as she realized the barista was one who normally served her.

"Long time, Elena, everything okay?"

"Yeah, family thing came up and had to leave town for a while, but I'm back."

Slight lie but no matter. With her order placed, Elena went and waited, picking it up and going to the usual booth. It was nice that it was available. Slightly strange but nice all the same. Now she just had to wait for Anakin, sipping her tea and staring out the window at the different people scurrying by, tightly bundled as it was cool out. They had no idea. Well they had some given apparently there had been an outbreak of Joker Venom recently. But things went back to how they always were. So much had happened in a month and Elena had six months of hell to deal with on top of it. At least Anakin was normal. Mostly. Yes, he was a Jedi but he wasn't a vampire and that was definitely something at the moment.

Anakin had spent much of the morning helping Luke again. He was still quietish around him but he didn't feel as awkward anymore. He supposed that came with the healing. It was one way of getting to know him. This version of Luke was so much different than the last. It was comforting. The last had confused him at times, being his unofficial master had been difficult when he was not yet a Jedi Master. He couldn't officially claim a padawan, it felt like he'd been breaking tradition. Then again there was nearly nothing traditional left in Kansas as far as the Jedi went. Jaina was dating a psycho and possibl mind warped with said psycho, Jacen was almost worryingly dark at times again. Then there was the matter of losing Han.

Just when Anakin had started to feel like he'd had something stable, Han left. He knew it wasn't the man's fault and the seal had it's reasons for taking people but it felt like old times. He'd always felt a little closer to his mother because of that, and was glad she was still there. If she had left as well Anakin really wouldn't have known what to do with himself. Elena had also left. The timing really sucked. It had caused Anakin to fall into a quieter pattern. Not that he was ever really that loud to begin with.

Letting his Uncle know he had to be somewhere, Anakin picked up his hooded sweater and stuck his hands into his pockets heading out the door. It was indeed coolish, still felt like winter. Rubbing his eyes with one of his hands he used that same hand to open the door to the usual tea shop and looked around.

He realized he hadn't really been there since Elena had left. He didn't have much of a reason, going alone wasn't exactly thrilling. He could make tea at home if he really wanted. It just seemed odd without Elena. Looking around until he spotted her sitting at their usual booth he joined her and slid in on the opposite side.

"I'm glad you're back."

Perhaps it was silly to be so happy to see Anakin but honestly, it was a relief. She honestly didn't know how she would handle being back here if the friends she had made before had been sent back. Because she loved Jer, loved Caroline.... but as the only people besides Buffy she had actually seen had been from home? It was too much of a reminder of what had just happened. Oh she had no doubt it would be brought up and she would tell because honestly, there was no point in holding things in when they could destroy you from the stress.

But silly or not, the second Anakin was at the booth, Elena got up and hugged him. Perhaps on some small level it was to make sure he was really there, but honestly, it was just how Elena was. She wasn't as hug happy as Galinda was, but she wasn't completely stoic and keeping to herself. Elena was affectionate in her own way and given it had been six months for Elena since she'd seen Anakin? Yeah. A hug was definitely in order.

Going back to her seat, the brunette gave a slight smile.

"I probably shouldn't be happy to be back, but I am."

Because really, who wanted to be in the middle of a biblical apocalypse? But at least it wasn't focused on her, people didn't die because of their ties to her, because of points having to be proven and rituals performed. The seal was equal opportunity in regards to such things. Oh, she was definitely worried, especially now that Jeremy was here as well, but she didn't have to worry about him being targeted just because he was her brother.

For a minute Anakin wasn't sure how to react. He really hadn't expected that from Elena, but it was nice. It brought a small shy smile to his face as he hugged her back gently. He'd missed her. She wasn't a Jedi but lacking her presence was concerning to him. He felt it, raw and unbalanced without the Force as it was, he felt it when it was gone. It had been there since he'd arrived on the Earth. To be without it wasn't something he liked much.

He wasn't sure why he felt so attached to the girl who slid into the booth across from him, but it was a little scary. It reminded him almost of the feeling he'd gotten being around Tahiri. A feeling of peace that was rare in both internal and external world of chaos that was Kansas. He didn't know if it was right or wrong to feel that way when Tahiri had simply gone home to a world that was less then peaceful. A dark time. Would it be betrayal?

Was she really replacing Tahiri? Anakin thought on it for a moment. She wasn't. She was keeping him company. He needed a friend, he didn't have many and Elena filled that void well. He never had made friends easily.

"I wouldn't want to leave either." He gave her a small smile, pushing some brown bangs from his face and placing his tea order as the waitress came to their table. Leaving would mean dying again. It really wasn't a feeling he was itching to experience again.

"This place is the lesser evil." Ironic in it's own right, that.

If Elena had any idea on what Anakin had been thinking, she'd have been confused. Mostly because they were just friends. At least, she was pretty certain of that. She really never put much thought into it, because really, what was the point? Before there had been Tahiri and Elena had been dealing with the Salvatore brothers because she was always dealing with the Salvatore brothers. Katherine might have enjoyed it, having both of them after her, but Elena? She hated it. She hated people hurting because of her. She hated the entire situation.

Once they were both seated again, the brunette gave a slight smile. It was nice that she wasn't the only one who didn't want to leave. True, that was because Anakin would be dead and that was his reasoning, but still. Second chances at life, the ability to make a difference, big or small. A chance to not feel all the stress and weight of the world on one's shoulders like Elena was left feeling in Mystic Falls thanks to Klaus.

"Which is just sad if you think about it. But it is. Less stress, at least for me."

Shrugging, Elena sipped her tea and looked out the window.

"It's so strange. I mean.... I was in Mystic Falls for six months but only gone for one month. I don't think that will ever not be strange..."
