Rose had always been an early riser, she was already awake, washed, dressed and reading before the sun had fully risen. Out of all of the kids in the area, she was probably the last one anyone had to worry about. Her book was good, she wasn't distracted easily. But the banging, she couldn't ignore that. Slamming her book closed in mild annoyance, she got up from her seat, and followed the noise.
It didn't take her long to find her way from the lobby to the community kitchen. Several things were wrong. There was a child, younger than her, alone. No adult. She was trying to work the stove, by the looks of it. And on top of that, Rose knew for a fact that the community kitchen held no bacon and eggs. She had heard the adults talking. They had to pile their money together to spend very carefully on the kids. And bacon had no been on the list. One more child who seemed to be apart from the mess, and had taken the words 'what are you doing' right out of her mouth.
Rose entered the kitchen, a frown set on her face. "Where did you get those?" she asked, pointing to the bacon. "We don't have any of those, I asked last night." because she and James were use to waking up to big breakfasts, but she knew that wasn't supposed to happen here.
She was the oldest in this room, and she wasn't going to let anything bad happened. It would be her fault then. She'd stop them if she had to.
