Dick Grayson is just wingin it ([info]nightwingingit) wrote in [info]wariscoming,
Kon had been on his last round of patrolling the city early that morning. It'd actually been a pretty quiet night thus far. He was considering a pizza and heading home. Calling the complex home was almost like second nature these days. Life in Kansas save for pending apocalypses wasn't all that bad. He had a girlfriend, a sort of Clark, and friends. The only monkey wrench in the matter was the recent arrival of Damian. It brought back all kinds of unpleasant memories of home he didn't feel like dealing with. Especially not without Tim or the other Titans around. The kid was a Bat-brat. The Bats should be taking care of him, but they weren't around. So the kid got away with being a complete shit toward him. He could probably get away with murder if he wanted at this point. Kon didn't want to think about that.

He couldn't help but feel a little annoyed with Clark in the matter as well. Honestly he should have expected Clark would take the neutral grounds especially considering Damian's age, and Clark's personality. He really wanted to be like Clark and think that people were generally decent, but Damian made him question that at times. It still upset him that Clark didn't back him up more. He couldn't just shake hands and be friends with the kid, it didn't work that way. His loyalty would always lie with Tim Drake. His best friend. Tim would always come before Damian. Tim Drake was his first friend, the first one who really understood him out of Cadmus Labs. To take Damian's side and just pretend nothing ever happened would feel like a betrayal, and Kon just couldn't do it. It was a heavy weight.

However soaring through the air that night however made him feel better. It was crisp and the night sky was cleansing. All that annoyance plus the sound of music from his ipod earbuds helped wash away the bad feelings he'd been bottling during the day. He was finally starting to feel better as he circled around the city headed back toward the complex. Then there were sounds. At first Kon didn't pay them much mind. His super hearing wasn't as finely tuned as Clark's was, he still got confused by it at times. Picked up normal sounds of people moving and talking, but then the sounds shuffled together and Kon pulled out the earbuds to get a better listen. Shoving them in his new leather jacket pocket, he zoned in on the source of the sound and saw it. Jason's limp body tumbling through the air like a rag doll.

So much for his quiet night. In the blink of an eye and only leaving behind a gust of wind in his wake, Kon flew faster then the speed of light toward the falling figure and snatched him out of the air before he struck the ground with little effort. To the naked eye it looked as though Kon hadn't even moved yet obviously he had. His arms were wrapped around Jason's torso. Catching him and hovering there for a second he raised an eyebrow. "You?" He didn't know Jason as well as he did Damian. He only knew his smug ass from the internet and Kansas. "Man what have you gotten into now?" He asked as he looked up to where Jason had fallen from and flew up toward that rooftop. Making sure to stay out of grabbing reach he glared.

"Christo!" He shouted at the lot of them and took in a deep chilling breath, blowing it back on the demons and watching as they began to freeze into demon ice sculptures. The ice covered the roof like an ice cage ontop of the frozen figures. If they thawed out then they'd also have to deal with thawing their restraint, or breaking through it. He needed to get Jason out. There was no way he could handle that many demons by himself. Obviously neither could Jason Todd who he still held onto, conscious or not. Keeping is eye on the roof for a second, he flew back toward the complex with the broken vigilante in his arms.

He headed straight for the infirmary to drop Jason off and inform the hunters.
