Victor's shift had just started in the morning, just about an hour ago. He thought Sundays were always slow. He could not recall a time when he saw too much activity on the security screens on those kind of days, mostly just a glimpse of someone walking by. But that was fine; he liked doing this, he knew someone had to watch. He also knew that anything could happen at any moment. It just hadn't yet. He had to admit he sort of missed doing patrols like the other heroes here. But as he once told Xander and Oracle, this was where he was best utilized. And so he sat in his chair in the security room, looking at the various screens in front of him. Nope.. still nothing. He reached for the Coke in a cooler by his feet. In the quick second he sat back up and was about to open it, he had a quick intake of breath from surprise. There was something! And it wasn't good in the slightest. A young woman named Kimberly, he remembered from her posts on the comms, and had seen her around a couple times, as well as from the video feeds of going to and from the complex. He saw a lot of faces on that screen. He now saw a man he had never met before, clearly a bum, bringing her into the lobby and then taking off. Kim was seriously wounded. From how they appeared, it was done by a knife. He could almost relate to that. It reminded him of when Lex was about to have his scientist alter his cybernetics and make him a drone loyal only to him. Thank God that Clark had gotten to him in time. But now it was his turn to make sure someone was safe.
The young man's hand hovered over an important button to press for an alarm, for the alert system.. but he hesitated. No, this was more important. A girl needed help and he was the closest one. They also weren't being attacked, it was just one lone person and it wasn't an enemy. He knew the right thing to do. And he would do it immediately. He felt that it wasn't really abandoning his post since it was on the same floor as this room, along with the clinic. So he quickly ran out and locked the door behind him, running faster than an athletic human and stood in the lobby, looking down at Kimberly. Oh.. damn. This was really bad. It was one thing to see it from overhead on a screen but this was up close and personal. He heard her pleas for help as he moved closer and knelt by her position on the floor. "Kim? It's me, Victor. I'm here to help. Who did this?" He saw her eyes shut and hoped it wasn't unconsciousness, that it was instead to shut out the lighting above them. "No, no, don't sleep. I need to get you to the clinic." He looked over her wounds and immediately felt badly for her condition she was in. He offered his arms to help lift her. "It's okay. You're safe now.. I think it's best if I carry you to the clinic now." Of course people needed to be told about this, very soon. But right now getting her to that medical room was the most important task.
