Svetlana Sergievskaya causes lyrical chess wars ([info]thegirlisme) wrote in [info]wariscoming,
"Not recently new. My family and I have been here since June... though it is still a lot to take in." Perhaps it was the fact that being in another country made it all the more hard to adjust to this place. Or the fact that she wasn't used to supernatural things, fights against things that weren't human or political. And the time jump certainly didn't help. But she didn't know about Rei's life. She didn't know the year she was from or if she was used to things that weren't exactly normal happening. But she could at least relate to the culture shock, the learning of a new language. She at least had a grasp of English, which would make it easier for her than it was for Fayina and Jelena, so there was that at least. "You do get used to it, though, no matter how daunting it seems at first."

No one else would really understand what she was talking about, or at least, those not involved with the apocalypse. They would assume most likely that she was talking moving another country most likely. Though why Lawrence, Kansas from Moscow? Who knew. She certainly wasn't a mail order bride like she'd sometimes been mistaken as. Insulting, really. But some people were idiots. Or a lot of them. Maybe it was just Americans. It was hard for Svetlana to tell. The situation at hand certainly didn't give her a standard selection of people to interact with, so their opinions on what she was didn't matter as much as they were all in the same boat. Brought here against their will. But to average citizens? Well, that was where the misconceptions came in. Especially when she was out with Anatoly. That was just all sorts of awkward, both when the rare person 'recognized' her and mostly when she wasn't as she was the strange woman with Josh Groban. Or the girls seeing pictures of their father in music stores. That was fun when they randomly yelled out daddy and confused people. Especially after that whole fiasco with that teen pop kid, Biber Bibe, something like that anyway with the one woman claiming him the father of her children.

"It is nice to meet you, Rei. I am Svetlana." Smiling some, Svetlana rested her hands on her lap. Perhaps it was the loneliness this girl exuded from her, or the fact that she too had lost someone and used candles as remembrance, whatever it was, Svetlana didn't mind taking time out of her day to talk with her and help her adjust and know that there were more like her beyond the ones she had shown up with who weren't used to the language. So far it seemed it was just her family and the three new Japanese girls who really had that issue, though.
