It physically hurt to smile when her muscles wanted to frown, but Kimberly did it anyway, fighting the reflexive urge to match her tears with the proper expression. Nodding, Kimberly sniffled. "I know; Shaina would never wear that," she said, laughing a little in spite of herself. "But, yeah. It's plenty close enough, Connor," she said sincerely, finally wiping at her eyes as she bowed her head sheepishly.
Kimberly moved one of her hands back to cup his neck gingerly, her thumb moving up and down on his jaw slightly. "This really is the best gift I've ever gotten...you even found the guy who played my dad, I mean...Connor, wow." She paused and sniffled, letting out a soft huff in leiu of laughter. "Man, that video game totally pales by comparison," she joked, sniffing again and trying to compose her expression to match the airy laugh she found herself letting out.
It was then that she realized she really ought to apologize for sort of ruining the only concrete plans they'd had for the night. "Sorry, um...you know, for not waiting," she said, her cheeks turning pink as she looked down sheepishly.
