2/2!
Of course he started offering to go do something fun and exciting - a literal mountain of ice cream? At any other time she’d have jumped on that offer. It was tempting to do exactly that now, even with the serious situation looming at the back of her mind. And that was exactly why Jacen was always so upset with her, wasn’t it? Because she was always just dismissing the important things in favor of what was fun.
“That sounds like a really great idea,” she started, smiling a little, sort of a wry, sad smile, “but I think I’m gonna have to pass... for now, at least. But... later?” Depending on how this conversation actually went, she reasoned, maybe later wouldn’t be too far off. They could still enjoy the night, maybe even more-so once this was cleared up? It was probably stupid optimism, but it was the best she could do right now.
“I... actually wanted to ask if you’d put Ruby back how she was.” It’s better to get straight to the point, right? Maybe it would go better if she just said what she needed to say, before he had the chance to distract her. “I mean, I just... Sam doesn’t need any more reasons to want you dead, and you keep doing these things...” She faltered, there, lifting one shoulder in a shrug, not really sure how to proceed. She didn’t know why he did these things - was it because he really didn’t think he could be hurt? Did he just not care about the risks - either because he didn’t care if he died, or because he just wanted to do whatever it was that seemed fun or amusing at the time? She didn’t know, and she didn’t know if she wanted to.
