Tony had been considering the possibility of expanding on the complex security systems (again), when someone decided that it would be a wonderful idea to drop in. Quite literally. Tony eyed the new arrival and quickly noted the costume before he could build himself into a state of notable caution. Just a cat. Nothing scary – well, that was kind of a lie, but he wasn't going there, because it got all emotional and weird and he had that whole evasive thing going for him. Sort of.
“Brooding? Oh, please. I don't brood ; I stand around looking devilishly handsome while I contemplate the importance of my work. Completely different.” Not really, but who was to tell him that he was talking out of his ass? Certainly not Felicia who, as far as Tony could tell, was doing just the same to him. He wasn't too fond of the crime sprees she went on, but Tony wasn't going to stand there and lecture Felicia on morals she was probably more than aware of. Furthermore, there was a perfectly good boy scout in the building who probably would have been one hundred percent better at pulling off the stern talks on law-breaking than he could. Superman could deal with Black Cat – Tony preferred Felicia Hardy, anyway.
“I hope that adorable little girl had enough decency to give you a nice reward for being so considerate,” Tony said calmly, giving Felicia the sort of look that indicated she wasn't fooling anyone.
He should have been more alarmed that she was standing there on the roof with him after he had reached the conclusion that, internally, she was trouble. Now that Felicia was standing here, though, Tony remained convinced that he could handle her. He would keep up his reputation, he would keep things friendly, but not too friendly, and the both of them could walk away from this mess completely unscathed.
With the exception of Felicia's pride, as Tony was about to mock her party.
“In the future, remind me to ignore any and all protests you make about me wearing a costume to any event that you decide to throw from now on,” he started, shooting Felicia a serious look, “including, but not limited to: birthdays, weddings, engagement parties, Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, Earth Day, Thanksgiving, July 4th, and Easter. You no longer have any say in this matter – it's a done deal. No costumes. Ever.”
