A few more swings across the rooftops and Felicia would be back at the complex. No one any the wiser and herself a little bit richer. She'd felt she needed to regain some damn professional pride after dressing up like her DC rival for the evening before. Selina Kyle of all people 'Catwoman'. What a stupid name, and she was sure she'd had the cat thing first, she wore it better anyway. The stupid DC cat covered her face, was she scared of people figuring her out. A mask was enough anyway, and besides, sometimes a little danger spiced things up. Though in that same vein Tony Stark turning up as Selina's on again off again superhero with no powers was a bit of a shock to her. Everyone had assumed they'd planned it, but there'd been no planning.
Just dancing, and flirting, and what the hell was she doing? Danny would laugh in her face if he knew just how close Felicia was getting with Tony Stark, though she was fairly sure he suspected before he'd gone. Him, and Rose and Phoebe and everyone she talked to. But there was nothing beyond the casual. Because that would be ridiculous. He had a worse reputation than she did, and letting him in would mean letting a man closer than she had let any man in a long time. After Ryan.
She'd said no, she'd said no a lot, but she'd agreed to go out with the guy and he'd taken one yes to mean another. And then he hadn't even had the courtesy to wait till she could kill him before he'd died. But of course Felicia knew for all the love em and leave em Tony Stark rep, he'd never hurt a woman. He was a perfect gentleman. He'd never hurt her like Ryan had. And god help her, he was a friend to her. Didn't hurt that he was handsome. More than she'd planned for.
It was him that had come to her on the roof, the night Danny had left and she'd lost herself in booze, him that had helped her down and tucked her up in bed without her having to worry about trusting him to try anything. He'd gotten her into bed, left a bucket beside her and even stayed a little while to make sure she wasn't gonna do herself any harm.
He'd slipped back out a little later and she'd been too out of it to notice.
But she noticed him now, as her grapple hook connected with the roof and the Black Cat slid across landing nimbly on the rooftop. Yeah she'd earned the name more than Selina Kyle had earned hers, she was sure of it.
"Brooding on a rooftop" she said, making her voice bright and friendly, in contrast with her thoughts. "You do know the spell got broken, right? Or are you planning on stealing his gimmick." she asked him, demasking as she spoke and looking around. "And no going hero on me, I was saving puppies and kittens and an adorable little girl called Greta Mae, with pigtails, and a lisp. And an old woman...and...y'know, all sorts of hero deeds."
She didn't even expect him to buy it, just to get distracted.
And she'd learned that was easy enough to do if you knew the tricks.
