The original point of going to Bangkok may have been to salvage a marriage, but it had turned into so much more than that. It had turned into her once again being nothing more than a piece in Molokov's grand end game. There was so much that had gone on in Bangkok, things that didn't make sense. While she had been confused before, following her trip to the other universe, Svetlana had to wonder just why Molokov had the video from years ago with her and the girls that had been meant for Anatoly on one of his matches. Why would he have kept it? And what was the bastard planning? He had to be planning something if he had yet to make his presence known.
While some might think Svetlana was coming out of her shell in talking with Darcy and others, she never really did. Oh, she could help them with their problems, give perspective, that sort of thing. But to truly come out of her shell meant talking about what was on her mind, and she had yet to do that. Still, she was willing to put aside her feelings on Florence and to keep Darcy in the dark about what had happened in Merano and Bangkok. She didn't need her image changed on the woman who was her best friend.
Still, at least Freddie was willing to respect the fact that she was a private person. Odd way to do so, by interrupting her, but no matter. He wasn't going to push for information. Well, that was reassuring. Of course, his wording of things confused the blond. Normally she was fine at following conversations in English and being able to figure out what words meant by the way they were used. But for whatever reason, be it the fact that she wasn't sleeping much at all or just everything going through her mind at the moment, her ability to make sense of what was being said and how to respond wasn't as sharp as it usually was.
"How can an air duct suddenly be put in the present tense?" Really, it didn't make sense. And as this was a face to face conversation and not on the computer where Svetlana could look words up and make sense of it, she was stuck being confused. At least it was more on the words and not Freddie being nice. Yes, she had caught the last bit of his sentence in regards to ranting at the world and how he got away with it for years, Rant was just not a word she used in English much so in her current stressed and tired state, the meaning slipped past in her confusion over the whole vent thing.
