Tears? he didn't know what to do with tears. Tears could be good or bad. Why had she gone for the confusing option? Women. On the upside he was pretty sure there was a smile underneath the tears. Smiles were good things. Smiles meant yes didn't they. She said his name finally. At least it was something, he felt like he'd been holding his breath for an hour. But it wasn't followed by a yes.
Why was she being confusing?! What the hell was she trying to do to him with this. His knee was even starting to hurt a little and she hadn't taken the knight from him. She told him to stand up so that she could kiss him and finally finally he let himself relax just a little. Standing up to kiss her meant yes. But all the same, just for clarification, he looked over to her. He was probably botching this up even more but Freddie being Freddie he needed the answer. Direct and to the point, he needed to know that she would do this. That having put everything on the line for her and stood up in front of a whole bunch of people declared he needed her to be happy, she could damn well give him a three letter word back that would put all his worries to rest.
"That's yes, right? Standing up so I can kiss you is yes. Cause if its no I'm pretty sure kissing won't follow. But you're smiling and everything so will you just say it woman, and take the chess piece so I can breathe again. I'm fairly sure it's vital to that whole being alive business I've heard is useful for marriages."
He stood up, and looked over to her, standing as she was, right in front of him.
"Three letters Vassy. Then I'll think about that kiss." he said, letting just enough of the arrogance back in now that he knew she loved him back. He might have grown as a person, but he was fairly sure she still liked it now and again. Something had to have attracted her way back when.
