And she arrived. Beautiful as ever and looking more surprised than anything else. So maybe she didn't know. Maybe this was entirely entirely new to her and maybe she'd be happy about it and say yes. Or maybe she'd slap him which was an equally likely possibility. He'd wanted people here so he could show her how much he loved her and that he wasn't afraid to say it in front of anyone. He'd grown a lot in his time here, a hell of a lot. A hellish future world would do that to a guy. It was definitely a way to strip the ego away. Or down, at least. There was no point in being rid of it completely.
But she was right, all that arrogance and self confidence was gone right now because frankly, he was terrified. Pure and honest, terrified. She'd say no, she'd hate him. He'd be back to square one. He'd be back to begging her to come back to him and he wasn't sure he could do that again. But they were here now, there was no other way to be. He had to say it. He had to.
And so he bent down on one knee and looked up at her trying his best to fight the urge to run that was still oh so prevelant.
"You said I had to trust you completely, and you said we had to grow so...I thought about what that would take. What would need to change before I could ever be the guy you really want. The one that's able to give you the family you deserve, the one that doesn't act like a child every time something goes against him. And pretty much Vassy the only way that's gonna happen is...if you marry me."
Worst. Proposal. Ever.
That said he hadn't been slapped yet. Though that might just have been shock.
He held out the White Knight Chess Piece to her. "This was kind of a spur of the moment thing though so I don't actually have a ring you get if you say yes to me. You get...this. For now, till I get a ring. Because you'll get a ring, don't worry I'm not that bad. Just...god say something." He was an idiot, he was a moron and he'd just blown the best thing in his life. And why, because he was scared of losing her just because of his own insecurities. He should have waited, gotten a ring, taken them out, done this right. Not like this
