Kimberly caught the eyebrow raising when she mentioned pot. "Oh, I don't do it anymore," she lied quickly. "College. You know the schpiel," she added to cover giving him a sheepish smile. Great, he was going to think that she was a total loser; it was one of those things she said when she wasn't paying attention to what she was saying and now she had to backpedal. That was always an annoying thing to have to do.
When Connor went on to say that he didn't think his dad knew where the kitchen was, Kimberly smirked. "Well, good on you for figuring it out, then," she teased playfully, winking. She bit her bottom lip against a grin and hummed a giggle in agreement with his suggestion that they start with the comedy. "Fair enough," she agreed. "It's way easier to concentrate on the plot of a suspense film when not distracted by food. Comedies are easier to follow anyway."
Plus, Kimberly thought, it'd be way better to watch the suspense movie later when it was getting darker. That made for a much better atmosphere. For everything she'd been through, it'd be nice to watch a movie and know that, at the end of the day, it was only a movie. Because, still, Kimberly really enjoyed the horror genre and always had. She probably always would.
Taking a bite of her dinner, Kimberly was very careful to keep from being messy or eating too much too quickly even though she was pretty hungry. Be cool, but don't act like a waif worried about her figure, she had to remind herself. Neither being a hog nor pushing things around like a friggen anorexic were attractive, she was sure. "This is awesome," she said sincerely, looking over at Connor with a genuine smile after she'd finished her first bite. "You are awesome, thank you again," she added.
