"Beats the hell out of Top Ramen in the microwave, since I'm too scared to use the stove," Kimberly retorted, smirking. "It's major to me," she went on, putting her hands on the counter and leaning down on them, looking up at him with a genuine smile. "Thank you."
Kimberly took the bag eagerly and pulled a couple of DVDs out of it as she stepped back. "No, I'm good with being away from it. Trust me, you're not hurting my feelings." At that, she looked down at the DVD covers.
"Eh, yeah, it'd be weird if they're here," she admitted. Kimberly hadn't ever seen or read X-Men. If she was honest, she wasn't even the slightest bit interested in it, but she wasn't going to tell Connor that. He had seemed like the type that would be into that sort of thing even before he'd just said that and who knew, maybe Connor could make her interested in it. She was willing to be open-minded.
Her eyes moved up from the DVD covers and she held up the one with the unfamiliar man on it. "Who's Russell Brandt? This guy?" she asked, arching her eyebrows curiously. "Is he any good?"
Once the oven was closed again, Kimberly moved back to the counter and leaned down on it after setting the DVDs down. She watched Connor as he moved about, preparing dinner. Any time he pulled out a knife or opened the oven to check the bread or turned on a new portion of the stove top, Kimberly backed away again. It made her feel foolish, if she was honest, but he was on board with it, so at least she didn't look too stupid. ...even if she felt it.
"You know, all the talking we've done, I think, has been about me...what do you do back home?" she asked, breaking a silence that felt like forever even if it had probably only been a minute.
