Tonks was pretty nervous about meeting Remus for the first time. Well, it wasn't exactly for the first time, was it? But it was still really nerve wracking. He remembered her as a little kid and she remembered him much older. Plus, everything that the books said about how they were supposed to get married? It was a lot to deal with, but she would deal with it the way she dealt with everything; with a smile.
Tonks wasn't really sure what she wanted from Remus. Nothing, really. She didn't love him. Hell, she barely knew him. It would be strange to set an expectation that they get married. Simply by being in Kansas instead of back home meant that things weren't going to end up that way. So, Tonks was determined to be friendly with Remus, tell him the truth about their future and then let him do what he needed to do. If that meant he didn't want to see her anymore it was no skin off her back.
She was in the kitchen brewing both a pot of tea and a pot of coffee when she heard a knock at the door. She wiped her hands off on a towel and then went to open the door. "Remus!" she exclaimed, her eyes lighting up at the sight of him, but it was quickly replaced by concern. "Holy Hufflepuff, Remus... you look awful. Maybe you should have stayed in hospital."
She quickly realized how rude she must have sounded and gave Remus a sheepish grin. "Sorry. Come in?" She moved aside to let Remus in the door.
