Kimberly closed her eyes and shook her head, gritting her teeth as the pain from the apparent past life swelled again. It was duller, this time, but it still hurt and her knees very nearly buckled from it. "No. No, you don't," she said, opening her eyes and looking back at Roxanne. "You don't have a fucking clue," she insisted. Nothing was going to make Kimberly believe that this woman really understood just how far from okay Kimberly was just then. Two minutes ago, she'd been blood and guts on the siding of a hardware store.
Ignoring the bit about somewhere to stay, Kimberly went on staring blankly as she listened to Roxanne go on about why she was there. So, I'm in Limbo, if not Hell. Fabulous, she thought, but had the wherewithall not to say aloud. "No, uh uh. I'm not going anywhere near a complex, or other people, or anything, no," she insisted, shaking her head again and then sitting on the tombstone again, as if to prove her point that she was planning on staying immobile. If she was really cheating Death again, being around other people was the absolute worst thing she could ever do. Anyone around her could end up being in just as much danger of dying as she was. Her time was up and had been for years. At this point, it was only a matter of time and she'd go wherever it was she was supposed to go when she died. Limbo. It had to be.
"Thank you, but no. I'm good. I'll just...wait it out," she said, assuming that it could only be so long before she ended up in one final destination or another. She just had to, like, accept her death and clear her mind of any potential unfinished business, right? And then...she could go. She could see Shaina and Dano and Frankie again. ...and her mom. Dipping her head down, Kimberly closed her eyes. That was a reunion well overdue.
