"Giant ass space bugs..." Mark muttered, looking a little pained. Then again, he'd been turned into a woman. Not much could surprise him. Or worry him. It would probably take an event like space bugs to convince him that he wasn't safe in this place. And that? Was probably pretty bad.
He had to try and push it off. If all they did was worry about what was next around the corner, how could they live? Who could go on thinking of all of that? He sure couldn't, and to be honest, he didn't think Maureen could, either. Hell, he knew Roger couldn't. It was what had caused him to hole up on his own for so long and it was why Mark was so eager to push him to make friends and work with the Glee club and everything.
"Is it too cheesy that I kind of want to put together a show?" He laughed a little, shaking his head and looking down at the bottle of water in his lap. She'd probably think it was completely nerdy. So would Faith and half the complex, for that matter. "Makes me feel like Mickey Rooney in those old Judy and Mickey movies. But wouldn't it be perfect? Think of all the performers we have? Singers and dancers and actors and musicians?" He didn't know, maybe there was someone who could juggle for all he knew. "You've got so much to offer, Maureen. Just picture it. Like old times, you know? I'll stage manage, I'm sure I've still got it in me."
The smile he gave her was playful, if a little pitiful. He was okay with them being apart as a couple. It had taken time, but he was all right with it now. But he wasn't okay with this distance as friends. Once you'd had Maureen in your life, you needed her there. And that meant all of her, all the fun and crazy and spunky Maureen.
