A trail of bodies littered the road behind him, and he knew almost everyone form his universe knew that. How many people had he killed or ruined on his way through life? Lucy was only one example, though he had thought in retrospect he should've just killed her instead of breaking her. After all, she'd killed him in the end. Well, he could've regenerated, but he refused to let the Doctor win that. And besides, he'd had the back-up plan where his followers would then bring him back to life. Of course, Lucy had found a way to weasel her way back into things and ruin his resurrection. Why did everyone have to interfere with his plans? Couldn't his plans just go smoothly and uninterrupted for once?
That was why he was being so careful with Romana this time around. He didn't want the Doctors to come down on him, or the companions to unite against him. That would be almost as bad as Lucifer interfering. Though, of course, he knew at some point the Doctors, at the very least, would try to interfere, it's what they did. But if he did this just right, Romana would stand with him.
And then Romana was saying she didn't think he'd hurt her. Which, really, at this point in time was the truth. He didn't want to hurt her. He'd just gotten her back, he wasn't about to lose her again. He wanted to have some fun, wanted to be able to enjoy himself for a while. And this was his chance, and he'd take full advantage of it.
"I will visit you. I know they'll all hate it, hate me. But let them hate, it's nothing new to me." His smile softened. "I wouldn't hurt you. I have no will to do so. I'd rather spend my time with you." He held her hand, his thumb gently rubbing the back of it. Romana didn't need to finish that sentence, he knew where it was going. He could see as much in her body language. He slid his free arm around her and pulled her against him, holding her. "Just you and me," he said softly.
